This paper interprets a memorandum written by Th. W. Adorno in 06-26-1938, as he was the director of the musical section of the Princeton Radio Research Project (1938-1941). We are putting in evidence his concept of regression of listening and the hints about its expression in empirical terms and dialectical relationship to the modern phenomenon of musical deterioration by means of radio. We are suggesting that Adorno’s radio research model could be fruitful to inspire contemporary studies of the cultural industry newramifications and its technologies.Downloads
