Crisis of Language and Decline of Experience in Walter Benjamin and Siegfried Kracauer
Keywords:
Crisis of Language, Experience, Essay, NovelAbstract
The article examines a series of reflections on the crisis of the language, within the broader frame of the crisis of the experience in modernity. It starts with the approach to the problem by the old Goethe, and shows how his perspective was recovered in the literature of the German and Austrian fin-de-siècle. The paper analyzes how this problematic was further elaborated in the essayistic works of Walter Benjamin and in Siegfried Kracauer’s novels.Downloads
