Dialectic of Science and Worldview. On Antisemitismus in Sociology
Keywords:
antisemitism, sociology, rationalism, dialectic of EnlightenmentAbstract
Auschwitz, as epitome of the mass extermination of the european Jews, has displaced the perspective of the history of antisemitism; now the latter may only be adjusted through social theory. Throughout history, sociology has proved to be incapable to theorize antisemitism in a not-rationalistic manner. It conceived antisemitism as a pre-bourgeois relic, not as a constitutive component of modern society. The present paper analyzes antisemitism as an unenlightened, constitutive component of sociology itself.Downloads
