Notes on the Critique of Patriarchy and Violence Against Women in Critical Theory

The article´'s main purpose is to make a series of notes on patriarchy and violence against women in Critical theory. The choice of form responds to the fragmentary and asystematic style of Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer, the authors on whom this study will concentrate. The idea is to show that it is a critique of gender and its relations, in the sense that it aims to understand the bases that make them possible, as well as the dynamics of power, tensions and antagonisms, that have defined their linkages since Modernity. This critique is visible in Adorno's and Horkheimer's reflections on the dialectic of the Enlightenment, capitalism and the commodity-form, as well as the analyses on authoritarianism and masculinity. Finally, some outlines of the present-day extensions of this critique are presented to understand gender relations in the context of contemporary right-wing radicalism.
