Beyond the Critique of Medicalization. Neoliberalism and Biopolitics of Sexual Identity
Keywords:
biopolitics, sexual identity, intersexuality, neoliberalism, Studies of GovernmentalityAbstract
In this paper we use the perspective of Studies on Governmentality in order to capture the singularity of the current biopolitical configuration (advanced liberal or neoliberal) in relation to the treatment of sexual ambiguity and gender. With this aim, the Spanish historical case is taken as an example. Our goal is to develop a comparable historical settings ideal type distinction, by comparing the different regimes of truth and forms of subjectivity with the various forms of biopolitical governmentality.Downloads
