Abstract

This essay addresses the concept and the discussion on “secondary antisemitism” in Europe. In this debate an established transnational and globalized memory of the Holocaust and the rejections and resistances it raises in terms of its significance as Jewish memory play a key role. The essay traces the origin of the concept in post-war Germany, explores its ramifications in the contemporary European context and advances, by way of three thesis, possible explanations of present-day antisemitism in Spain.
