Abstract

El artículo examina la vigencia u obsolescencia del concepto de “carácter auto­ritario” en el contexto actual de los estudios sobre autoritarismo y extre­ma derecha, especialmente en Alemania. El desarrollo de la argumentación permite constatar que se trata de una falsa alternativa, pues a través del aná­lisis de las razones de su obsolescencia se puede ver cómo se aclaran los fenó­menos actuales: continuidad y cambio en la socialización violenta propia del capitalismo quedan iluminadas por medio de conceptos como “autoritarismo secundario”, “empaste narcisista” o “religión de la vida cotidiana”.
