Abstract

Taking as a point of departure Adorno's essay on the fraying of the arts, the article explores thinking aesthetics after, but with Adorno. Setting the artistic continuum in capitalist modernity between two extremes, that of the literary object on the one hand and of the art installation on the other, it inivtes to rethink the relationship between Adorno's diagnostics on art at the point of its fraying and Rancière's proposal of an aesthetic regime of art. Common to both thinkers is the impugnation of traditional aesthetic theory in order ot understand the politics of art's dissent.
