Abstract

For critical theory, antisemitism should not be analyzed as an isolated matter, but as an integrant part in a specific socio-historical constellation. Starting up from a brief general view of contemporary constellations of antisemitism, the paper analyzes the contributions of Critical Theory on this topic, which enable to comprehend the limits of Enlightenment as well as of the social transformations leading to new configurations of antisemitism. Analyzing the role that some of the fundamental elements underlying antisemitism the civilizing process, the dialectics of bourgeois emancipation, the commodity form and the subjectivation processes , the present paper aims to understand the relationships between old and new antisemitism, and specially to critically shed light on the diagnostic of a “structural antisemitism”
